Theft, burglary charges lodged against man
HUNTSVILLE — A Scott County man is facing felony charges of theft over $1,000 and aggravated burglary following his arrest by Scott County Sheriff’s Department Det. Ricky Lee Jeffers.
According to an arrest warrant filed by Jeffers, Matthew Lynn Jeffers was arrested last week following an investigation into an alleged theft on Tuesday.
The warrant alleged that three firearms were stolen from a Paint Rock Road residence.
Allegedly, the firearms — a .357 Ruger, .44 Colt with holster and .38 Smith & Wesson — belonged to Jeffers’ uncle. The warrant alleged that Jeffers told investigators he went to his uncle’s home in the Paint Rock community to borrow money, “but when they were not home he ‘got the idea’ to take the guns.”
The warrant stated that the guns in question had been pawned at an area pawn shop for $210.
Jeffers was booked at the Scott County Justice Center after being taken into arrest on Thursday.
