Man charged with rape, kidnapping
HELENWOOD — An Oneida man who allegedly held his estranged wife against her will and repeatedly assaulted her is facing a litany of charges, including kidnapping and rape.
Teddy Russell Robbins, 39, of a Lafayette Street, Oneida, address, was taken into custody at his wife’s Helenwood residence Sunday by Scott County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Officer Roger Douglas.
According to an arrest warrant filed by Douglas, he and two other deputies — Sandra Tucker and Andy Davis — were dispatched to a Howard Jeffers Road residence in Helenwood after a woman called 911 to report that she was being detained against her will by her husband.
Allegedly, the woman told a 911 operator that her husband “had been beating her all day and he would not allow her to leave the residence,” according to the warrant. Robbins allegedly threatened the woman with a knife, saying, “If you call the cops I’ll kill ya.”
After Robbins was taken into arrest, deputies allegedly discovered a plastic bag of marijuana and a cigarette wrapper containing two white pills, leading to drug charges in addition to the domestic-related charges.
Robbins was charged with aggravated assault, especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape, possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
In a separate, unrelated incident, a Scott County woman was arrested last week and charged in connection with an alleged series of thefts earlier this year.
Karen Watson was arrested by Sheriff’s Department Det. Ricky Lee Jeffers.
Allegedly, Watson took several antiques and other household goods from a Cherry Fork Road residence on multiple occasions and sold them to another individual. The items were valued in excess of $500.
