Pioneer man arrested for rape of child
HUNTSVILLE — A Pioneer man is facing charges of child rape and sexual battery after allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl.
According to an arrest warrant filed by Det. Ricky Lee Jeffers of the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Anthony R. Scogin, 26, of Charlie Byrd Lane in Pioneer, has been charged with three counts of rape of a child, three counts of incest and two counts of aggravated sexual battery stemming from the alleged incident.
The warrant alleges that Scogin admitted to investigators that he “started touching [the child] in a sexual way” late last year, with the alleged crimes progressing from that. Allegedly, Scogin told authorities that his behavior was the result of “lack of being with a woman.”
The warrant further alleges that Scogin told authorities that on at least three occasions he “tried to have sex with the victim . . . [but] the victim would complain that it hurt.” According to the warrant, Scogin told investigators, “I realized after every incident that what I was doing was wrong, but found it hard to stop myself.”
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Department of Children’s Services assisted with the investigation.
