Oneida man charged in sex case involving minor
A 28-year-old Oneida man has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated statutory rape after allegedly engaging in sexual activity with his foster child.
According to an arrest warrant filed by Investigator Alan Reed of the Oneida Police Department, Michael B. Day, 28, of Troxel Drive, was charged with 24 counts of aggravated statutory rape.
The affidavit for Day’s arrest alleges that OPD Patrolman Gerry Garrett discovered Day and his 15-year-old female foster child in a car parked at Jeffers Cemetery near the Oneida City Park while on routine patrol Friday night.
Allegedly, the victim told Inv. Reed and OPD Sgt. Brett Bond of numerous sexual encounters with Day.
After being booked at the Oneida Police Department, Day was transported to the Scott County Jail, where he was being held on $250,000 secure bond. Bail conditions called for Day to have no contact with children, including his foster children.
Oneida Chief of Police Mike Cross declined to comment on the case, citing an ongoing investigation.
