WEAPONS, DRUG CHARGES RESULT FROM TRAFFIC STOP

A Robbins man, Rickey S. Francis, has been charged with several drugs and weapons charges following a traffic stop last week on U.S. Hwy. 27 near Carson Road.

According to an arrest warrant filed by K-9 Officer Kris Lewallen of the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Francis was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (oxycontin), possession of a Schedule III controlled substance (hydrocodone), possession of a prohibited weapon, and two counts of going armed with intent, all stemming from the Wednesday (June 4) traffic stop.

The warrant stated that Lewallen stopped a vehicle driven by Francies after it was observed swerving.

During the traffic stop, Francis allegedly turned over a glove containing nine hydrocodone tablets to Lewallen. A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly turned up two oxycontin tablets, a loaded .22-caliber handgun, a bag of .22 ammunition, and approximately 250 ft. of illegal explosive detonator cord.
