Fire draws response from 3 departments
HUNTSVILLE — Three fire departments responded with manpower and equipment to battle a blaze at a River Road residence Thursday morning, but a detached garage at the residence suffered heavy damage despite their efforts.
Heavy smoke was visible from downtown Huntsville by the time firefighters were notified of the late-morning fire, which began inside a garage detached from the residence.
Upon arriving on scene, Huntsville firefighters immediately summoned the South Scott and Mid-County volunteer fire departments for assistance battling the blaze.
In all, seven units responded from the three departments, with tankers used to shuttle water from a fire hydrant near the Scott County Courthouse. The fire was quickly brought under control once firefighters arrived on scene.
