Two charged with theft of lottery tickets
HUNTSVILLE — Two employees of a local convenience store have been charged with stealing hundreds of lottery tickets, according to arrest warrants filed by the Scott County Sheriff’s Department.
April N. Ginn, 20, of Stearns, KY, and Megan A. Ayers, 18, of Huntsville, were charged with theft following a lengthy investigation by Scott County Sheriff’s Department Detective Tommy Silcox.
In arrest warrants filed by Det. Silcox, it is alleged that the two women — both of whom are employed by Fill ‘N Foods in Huntsville — had taken lottery tickets from the store.
The warrant stated that the investigation started after the store’s owners, Ronnie and Fathey Overton, discovered several rolls of lottery tickets missing, but that the tickets had been activated at the store.
Allegedly, around 40 rolls of 300 tickets each were stolen. The warrant alleges that the employees took the tickets either without paying for them, or by buying some tickets but taking more than were paid for. After scratching the tickets, the warrant alleges, the suspects would cash in the winning tickets either at the Fill ‘N Foods store or at a nearby Big John’s store.
Allegedly, the earnings of the winning tickets amounted to approximately $3,000.
