Presson joins staff at Rhyne & Patton

Drs. M.W. Rhyne, Jr. and David A. Patton have announced that Shane Presson, O.D., has joined their optometry practice and will be seeing patients locally.

Dr. Presson and his wife, Dr. Michelle Presson, joined Rhyne & Patton in 2007 at their Knoxville office. Dr. Presson will now be seeing patients at the Oneida clinic — located at 19088 Alberta Street — on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Originally from Camden in West Tennessee, Dr. Presson graduated from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1990, and from the Southern College of Optometry in 1995.

The Pressons were married in 1994 after meeting in optometry school. Following Michelle’s graduation in 1996, the couple moved to Lynchburg, Virginia, where they worked in a large ophthalmology practice for 10 years before joining Rhyne & Patton.

Shane Presson was an intregal part of the LASIK team for many years, and is experienced in the treatment and management of glaucoma, as well as many eye diseases. He has a special interest in children’s vision, as well as primary care optometry, and looks forward to helping expand the current vision therapy services to include sports vision.

The Pressons have three children: Sean, age 7, Canon, age 4, and Savannah, age 16 months. The family attends Grace Baptist Church in Knoxville.

The practice of Drs. Rhyne & Patton was originally started in 1948 by Dr. Wilson Greene on Main Street in Oneida. Dr. Green later moved the office to the building adjacent to the SLU building on Alberta Street. The office moved to Northtown Plaza in 1976, and Drs. Rhyne and Patton purchased the practice in 1979. In 1983, property was purchased and the current office was constructed on Alberta Street.
