Sheriff's Dept announces drug charges
HUNTSVILLE — The Scott County Sheriff’s Department announced on Friday several drug charges that have resulted from recent traffic stops throughout the county.
Among the charges announced by Sheriff Anthony Lay were:
• Joann Goad Bowling, age 49, of Robbins, charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (Xanax). Allegedly, Bowling was stopped by K-9 Officer Kris Lewallen on Coal Hill Road in Glenmary for failing to signal, and was found in possession of 1.5 Xanax pills without a prescription;
• Jerry Dean Sexton, 34, of Huntsville, charged with simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sexton was stopped by Officer Lewallen for violation of the registration law and was allegedly found to be in violation of a marijuana roach;
• Josh K. Thomas, 19, of Helenwood, charged with possession of marijuana for resale. Allegedly, Thomas was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Officer Lewallen for a violation of the registration and light laws, and was discovered to be in possession of 10 grams of marijuana;
• Glenn L. Calhoun, 33, of Robbins, charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (Percocet). Calhoun was allegedly a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Officer Lewallen for failing to signal, and was allegedly found to be in possession of Percocets;
• Paula Owens, age and address not given, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (Morphine). Allegedly, Officer Lewallen, K-9 Officer Danny Phillips and Sgt. David Woodard discovered a marijuana joint, a bag of marijuana and a pack of rolling papers, as well as syringes with a clear liquid, inside Owens’ room at Galloway Motel in Helenwood; and,
• Johnny Griffith, age and address not given, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (Morphine) in the same incident in which Owens was charged.
