$250k financing plan announced for CCC
Local government officials and representatives of the Children’s Center of the Cumberlands met at the center’s north Oneida facilities last week to announce a sizeable federal investment that will aid improvements to the facility.
Meeting Wednesday (Oct. 10) afternoon, USDA Rural Development Area Specialist Marisol Torres and Children’s Center Executive Director Tammy Foster announced the investment of $250,000.
“It’s an honor for Rural Development to have a role in this extraordinary partnership,” said Rural Development Regional Director Jerry Amonett. “The staff at the Children’s Center of the Cumberlands has an enormous positive impact on the lives of families, especially children across Scott County and this whole area.”
The funding includes a Community Facilities low-interest loan in the amount of $200,000, as well as a $50,000 Economic Impact Initiative grant.
The funds will be used for renovations at the Center’s existing child advocacy center, providing additional office and counseling spaces, as well as a meeting room and play area. The renovation will also allow the local center to serve as a regional training facility for similar programs in nearby counties.
Participating in the announcement were Oneida Mayor Jack Lay, Barna Log Homes President Alfred Branim and Barna CEO Darlene Branim.
