Stonecipher Named Boeing President

Three weeks after being inducted into the Scott County Boys & Girls ClubÕs ÒHall of Fame,Ó former Scott Countians Harry C. Stonecipher has come out of retirement and has reassumed his role as head of the Boeing Company, it was announced Monday.

Stonecipher, son of the late Harry S. and Mae Stonecipher of Helenwood, is 67. He is married to the former Joan Whaley of Oneida.

Stonecipher steps into the position being vacated by Philip M. Condit, 62, who resigned under a cloud of controversy surrounding certain improprieties of the company with regard to government contracts, and on the heels of the firing of two other top company officials. Stonecipher was inducted into the Boys & Girls ClubÕs Hall of Fame for his lifetime achievements, for a career spanning more than 47 years.

After graduation from LaFollette High School in neighboring Cambpell County, Stonecipher earned a degree in physics from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville.
