Grand Jury Returns 20 Indictments
HUNTSVILLE - The November term of the Scott County Grand Jury met here last week and returned 20 indictments, including one for first degree murder against Charles Ray Harvey, 47, and his daughter, Vanessa Loredo, 22. (See related story, this page.)
Others indicted and the charges against them include:
** John Wesley Sexton, 26, named in a four-count indictment for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (Ecstasy), felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine); sale of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia, all in connection with an incident which allegedly occurred on May 4;
** James T. Wilson, 41, named in a three-count indictment for felony possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple possession of a Schedule II substance (methamphetamine) and unlawful possession of a weapon (.38 caliber revolver), in connection with an incident which allegedly took place on July 12.
¥ Frankie Newberry, 47, named in a five-count indictment for identity theft, aggravated perjury, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, unlawful possession of a weapon and driving without a license, all of which allegedly stem from incidents which occurred on September 9, 1998 (identity theft), March 18, 1999 (perjury), and July 10, 2003 (the other three counts);
¥ Bobby R. Redford, 45, named in a two-count indictment for third offense of driving under the influence, and simple possession of marijuana, both related to incidents which allegedly occurred on June 15;
¥ Aaron Lawson, 24, named in a five-count indictment for second offense of driving under the influence, simple possession of a Schedule IV substance (Xanax), possession of drug paraphernalia, second offense of driving on a revoked license, and reckless driving, all of which allegedly stem from an incident which occurred on March 29;
¥ Doyle Smithers, 30, named in a two-count indictment for aggravated sexual battery involving a male child of less than 13 years of age which allegedly occurred on two separate instances in the month of June;
¥ Kevin Harris, 29, named in a two-count indictment for aggravated sexual battery involving a male child of less than 13 years of age which allegedly occurred on two separate instances in the month of August;
¥ Melissa A. Krahn, 36, named in a three-count indictment for aggravated burglary, theft of items valued more than $500 and vandalism of $500 or less, all of which allegedly occurred during an October 14 break-in at the home of Lyle and Robin Krahn;
¥ Ignacio Brasfield, 22, named in a three-count indictment for forgery (two counts) and theft of less than $500, for allegedly taking checks belonging to James Garland, and felonious forging two of them in the amounts of $179.60 and $315.56, and passing them at Wal-Mart of Oneida on July 9 and July 13;
¥ Carrie M. Swafford, 26, named in a three-count indictment for forgery (two counts) and theft of less than $500, for allegedly taking checks belonging to Conley and Crystal Watters and feloniously forging them in the amounts of $82.22 and $82.43, and passing them at Wal-Mart of Oneida on July 24;
¥ Bryan A. Crabtree, 21, named in a four-count indictment for theft of less than $500 (two counts), and passing worthless checks up to $500 (two counts), for allegedly passing said checks in the amount of $402.04, and $160.18, at Wal-Mart of Oneida on July 3, and July 5;
¥ Tracy J. Lawson, 26, named in a five-count indictment form second offense of driving under the influence, vandalism less than $500, evading arrest in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and violation of the implied consent law, all stemming from an alleged incident which occurred on July 31. Lawson was also named in a separate indictment for DUI, from an alleged incident which took place on April;
¥ David L. Turner, 38, indicted on a charge of sale of a Schedule II controlled substance (cocaine), in connection with an incident which is alleged to have occurred on March 26;
¥ Hoey Pennington, 43, named in a three-count indictment on charges of felonious possession of marijuana, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, all in connection with an incident which allegedly occurred on December 12, 2002;
¥ James R. Kilgore, 41, named in a three-count indictment for forgery (two counts) and theft of more than $500, for allegedly writing checks belonging to Ralph Kilgore in the amounts of $725 and $1100 and cashing them on Sept. 16 at First National Bank; and,
¥ Nelson Eddie Younce, 36, named in a five-count indictment for burglary, theft of less than $500 (two counts), simple possession of marijuana and driving on a revoked license, all in connection with an alleged break-in of a building owned by Chris Collins, and take certain items from that building, and possession of marijuana and driving on a revoked license on July 30. Younce was also named in two other indictments, one for driving on a revoked license, which allegedly took place on July 25; and the other for introduction of drugs (marijuana) into a penal institution, which allegedly occurred on Oct. 25.
