Saturday Event Will Dedicate Ampitheater
October 20, 2005
A Saturday afternoon event at the Oneida City Park will serve as a dedication and grand-opening of the new ampitheater facility there, a salute to Appalachian music, and a fundraiser for the Scott County Senior Center.
The event, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., is being hosted by the Town of Oneida. Several local musicians and bands will perform, and concession stands will be provided by local civic groups. Among the musicians scheduled to perform are Shadow Ridge, Nick Manis and Tom Payne & The Band.
All proceeds from the event are to benefit the Senior Center’s “wish list.”
The salute to Appalachian life and music, entitled “O’ Brother Where Are We?” is a spin-off of the hit Coen Brothers film, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? and will include skits that include, among others, the Bethlehem and First Baptist church choirs and Oneida Mayor Jack E. Lay.
The event is free to the public. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating on the ground.
