WINFIELD — An early evening accident on Pleasant Grove Road in the Gum Fork community here Monday claimed the life of a Paint Rock man.
Identified as the driver and sole occupant of a 1983 Ford Ranger pickup truck was Verldon Lee Martin, age 69, of Paint Rock. According to Trooper Mark Chitwood of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Martin was traveling east on Pleasant Grove road shortly after 6 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the roadway and struck an embankment on the opposite side before his truck overturned, coming to rest and facing west on the roadway.
