Naylor New CEO At SCH

From a position in the Midwest with a view of the St. Louis Gateway Arch in the distance, Scott County Hospital's new CEO says he welcomes the change.

Butch Naylor Butch Naylor took over his duties at the hospital on Saturday, replacing Ginger Carroll, who made a move to Florida a few weeks ago.

Naylor, 47, who's married to a registured nurse who's now a stay-at-home mom, has 30 years of experience in the healtchare field, says it was decision to relocated in Oneida and he can't wait to move his family in and get settled.

"I've been at a Community Health Systems' hospital in Illinois for the past couple of years - near St. Louis - but I like small town life," Naylor said.

And, although he's originally from New York, the move to Oneida is sort of a homecoming for Naylor.

"My grandmother was originally from LaFollette. She and her sister moved to New York back in the '20s," he said.

And there's another connection of sorts that greeted Naylor shortly after his arrival here.

"When I met Dr. Martin and we began to talk, he pointed out that we'd met before - while we were both in the Air Force in Georgia," he said.

Naylor said he joined the Air Force right out of high school, and was trained as a lab tech. After four years in military service, he said he used the GI Bill to continue his education and earned a degree in accounting from the University of Georgia.

He says his healthcare career includes eight years as a lab tech, 10 years as a chief financial officer and the remainder as either a chief operations officer or chief executive officer. He's been with CHS for the past five years.

Naylor and his wife have two sons, ages 18 and 13. The eldest is a student at Auburn University and the youngest is in middle school.
