October 5, 2006
HUNTSVILLE — A Winfield man faces charges of burglary and theft over $10,000 after allegedly stealing aluminum stadium parts from Scenic Raceway.
According to an affidavit filed by Scott County Sheriff’s Department Detective Donnie Anderson, Bradley A. Creech, age 26, was arrested on Monday in connection with the incident.
Creech is one of five people facing charges in various burglaries in recent days.
According to the affidavit, Johnny King, owner of Scenic Raceway, noticed a door was open on the stadium box at the race track when he visited it on September 25. Upon checking the open door, he discovered that the aluminum hand rails that are positioned between the seats of the stands were missing, and filed a report with the Sheriff’s Department.
According to Det. Anderson, Creech was allegedly identified to have sold aluminum handrails to a scrap yard in Kentucky.
Others arrested recently in connection with local burglaries include:
• Jeffrey Allen Clowers, age 28, of Huntsville. Clowers wascharged with theft over $1,000, theft over $500 and burglary. According to Det. Anderson, a riding lawn mower and garden tiller were recovered from Clowers’ possession. Clowers allegedly stole the tiller and mower from a Huntsville Hill Road residence. A second suspect, Donald Lee Sexton, Jr., age 30, had been arrested previously for his involvement in the theft of the mower. According to Det. Anderson, the tiller was discovered in Clowers’ possession when he was arrested in connection with the theft of the mower;
• Krystal Sweat was charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000 in connection with the alleged theft of an XBox gaming console and XBox video games from a Cherry Fork Road residence in late August;
• Joseph Randall McCann, age 23, of Robbins, was charged with theft under $500, stemming from a July 11 incident in which McCann allegedly stole tools from a co-worker at a job site. According to an affidavit filed by Det. Anderson, McCann and two other individuals were working on a fence on Ball Park Road in Helenwood, and one of the individuals left his tools at the job site. When he returned two days later, according to the affidavit, the tools were missing; and,
• Joseph W. Anderson, age 29, of Robbins, was charged with burglary and theft under $500 stemming from the alleged theft of multiple DVD movies from a tractor-trailer rig on LV Storey Road in Robbins. Sixteen DVDs were identified as stolen.
Sheriff Anthony Lay urged persons who have property stolen to contact authorities as soon as possible.
“I encourage all people who have property stolen to report these incidents immediately,” Lay said. “As time goes by, being able to recover stolen property becomes extremely difficult.
“Some citizens feel they can investigate themselves and then get the district attorney to take a warrant out,” Lay added. “That messes up the investigation because proper procedures are not followed.”
Det. Anderson added that it takes a “community effort” to fight against thefts, and urged citizens to report any details they hear about.
DRUG BUST

Butler was charged with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of alcohol.
