February 23, 2006
CLINTON — Scott County’s director of schools is a finalist for the same job in a small Anderson County school district.
According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Mike Davis is one of five finalists for director of schools in the Clinton City School District, a small school district with three elementary schools and approximately 900 students.
Davis is one of 12 applicants for the position, which has been vacant since June 2005. Other finalists include Finley James “Jim” Duncan, director of the Wilson County school system; Joseph “Joe” L. Forgety, principal of Norris Middle School; Lisa Hinely, principal of Button Gwinnett Elementary in Georgia; and Vicky C. Violette, principal of Powell Elementary School.
The Clinton Board of Education is expected to interview the candidates next month, and make a final decision in April. The successful applicant will assume the director’s duties in Clinton on July 1.
Last year, the Scott County Board of Education reappointed Davis to a two-year term in Scott County.
