HUNTSVILLE — A 23-year-old Winfield man has been charged with rape of a child, stemming from an alleged incident last month.
Jonathan Dennis Burchfield, 23, was charged Wednesday, Dec. 2, by Scott County Sheriff’s Department Det. Ricky Lee Jeffers.
An arrest warrant filed by Det. Jeffers indicated that Burchfield told investigators that his only contact with the 12-year-old victim was consensual.
State statute defines sexual contact with minors under the age of 13 as rape of a child.
The affidavit indicated that Burchfield “climbed through [the victim’s] bedroom window” and “snuck back out the window the next morning.”
Just weeks before the alleged incident, Burchfield was arrested and charged with sending nude photos of himself to an 11-year-old child.
