BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Scott County native and former Scott High School basketball standout Lisa Pace has joined the coaching staff of Long Island University, head coach Gail Striegler announced last week.

Pace, who followed a prolific career with the Lady Highlanders with a successful collegiate career at Eastern Kentucky, makes the move from Georgia State, where she spent last season.

“We’re excited for Lisa to join our staff,” Striegler said. “She is known for her recruiting, especially for her overseas and junior college connections. Lisa brings many years of coaching experience, including a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament, and we look forward to her putting that experience to good use at LIU as we continue to grow as a program.”

LIU has appeared in the Northeast Conference championship game two of the past three seasons. Last season, the Blackbirds finished 22-10 and finished second in the league.

Pace was recruiting coordinator for seven years at Southeast Missouri State between one-year stints at Eastern Kentucky, where she began her coaching career as a graduate assistant in 1999.

Located in Brooklyn, LIU is the nation’s eighth-largest independent university, with 30,000 students.
Pace will work primarily with the program’s post players.
