Earnest Preston “Pret” Duncan, 85, of the Paint Rock community, passed away February 24, 2010, St. Mary’s Medical Center of Scott County in Oneida.
Born November 16, 1924, he was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillie Jeffers Duncan; two brothers, Leland and Arnold Duncan; sisters- and brothers-in-law: Helen Duncan, Orangie Duncan, Lois, Tom Abbott and Donnie Abbott; and father- and mother-in-law, Donald and Virginia Abbott.
He was a member of Paint Rock Baptist Church and served in the United States Army for seven years, being a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Abbott Duncan of the Paint Rock community; one brother, Walter Duncan of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother- and sisters-in-law: Charles and Viola Abbot, Barb Vineyard, Ida and Jerry Biggs, and Millie Gills, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; aunt, Printie Yancey of Stearns, Ky.; seven nieces, three nephews, special cousin, Bobby Jo Perkins; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted February 28, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville with Bro. Herb Smith and Bro. Wayne Seabolt officiating. Music was provided by Zane and Candy Roberts. Interment followed at Peaceful Rose Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #136.
