Pearl Cross Owens, 88, of the High Point community, passed away December 5, 2009, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Scott County in Oneida.
Born in Scott County, March 21, 1921, she was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Massengale Cross; daughter, Marilyn Chadwick; grandson, Brandon Owens; mother- and father-in-law, Enmon and Kizzie Owens; brother, Bratchen Cross; sisters: Nevada Lowe and Nora Ward; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Cross and Marie Goforth.
She was a member of High Point Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Owens; four sons: Jimmy Owens and wife, Marva, Larry Owens and wife, Joyce, and Harry Owens, all of Oneida, and Bobby Owens and wife, Sharlene, of Mt. Juliet; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, three brothers: Ova Cross and wife, Janis, Arnold and wife, Dorthy, and Odell and wife, Ruth; three sisters: Canzeda Owens, Zora Burress, and Evelyn and Lawrence Low; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted December 8, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Ronald Massengale officiating. Music was provided by the Mason Family. Graveside service was to have been conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Hazel Valley Cemetery.
West-Murley Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
