Several players from Oneida and Scott high schools received all-district honors in Districts 4-A and 4-AA.
Oneida’s Cody Carson joined Matthew Higgins (Sunbright), Thomas Ridenour (Jellico), Zach Shannon (Wartburg) and Lucas Tarver (Oliver Springs) on the District 4-A first team, while Jake Wright joined Cody Goodman (Wartburg), Jessie England (Sunbright), Jesse Chambers (Jellico) and Josh Kilby (Oakdale) on the second team.
Dylan West was one of 14 players receiving honorable mention. Sunbright’s Marty Maxfield was named the district’s coach of the year and Oliver Springs’ Wesley Rather was named district MVP.
On the girls all-District 4-A Team, Oneida’s Alex Bond received first team honors, joining Lindsey Kilby (Oakdale), Crystal Fountain (Wartburg), Sunny Lavender (Sunbright), Nicole Thompson (Oakdale), Jessika Dyer (Sunbright) and Lauren Bunch (Wartburg).
Ali Love and Stevi Jeffers were named to the second team, joining Whitney Walls (Coalfield), Samantha Hamby (Coalfield), Sarah Davidson (Wartburg), Katie Harvey (Oliver Springs) and Chelsey Harper (Oliver Springs).
Taylor Stephens, one of the district’s most improved players in 2009-2010, was among nine players receiving honorable mention.
Coalfield’s Carmen Hines was named the district’s coach of the year, while Alaina Jordan was named district MVP.
In District 4-AA, Scott placed six players on the all-district teams.
Shay Anderson, Whitney Phillips and Lexi Jeffers all received all-district honors on the girls’ team, while Jacob Sexton was named boys’ all-district. Bradly Brooks and Nathan Griffith received honorable mention.
