Juanita Mae Claxton, 79, of Helenwood, passed away March 7, 2010, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Scott County in Oneida.
Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, September 24, 1930, she was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Etta Lynn Grider; her daughter, Bertie Mae Claxton; one brother, W.C. Grider; and two sisters, Viola Artz and Pauline Lackey.
She was a member of Helenwood Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Sue Chambers of Helenwood, and Evelyn Chambers and husband, Eugene, of Oneida; one brother, Bobby Grider and wife, Ann, of the Ditney Trail community; one grandchild, one great-grandchild, and many other relatives.
The family was to have received friends from 6 p.m., until time of funeral service at 8 p.m., on Wednesday, March 10, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Cecil officiating. Graveside service was to be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 11, at Phillips Cemetery in Helenwood.
