James L. Phillips, 58

James L. Louie Phillips, 58, of Knoxville, formerly of Scott County, passed away October 31, 2009, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

Born November 1, 1950, he was preceded in death by his mother, Betty M. Cantrell Phillips; grandparents: Luther and Alta Griffith Phillips, and James (Jim) and Ella Silcox Cantrell; and two aunts: Audra Ellis and Virginia Burnett.

He was a 1969 graduate of Oneida High School; and adored every minute of being a grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, old automobiles, drag racing, and all things outdoors. He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church; and worked as a service manager for Ted Russell Ford of Knoxville for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his father, Kenneth Phillips of Powell; his wife, Amy Phillips; two sons: Jason C. Phillips, and James Dusty Phillips and wife, Shana; six grandchildren, one brother, Michael Phillips and wife, Michelle, of Knoxville; nephew, Corey and Erica Phillips, niece, Ashley Phillips; great-niece, Lexi Phillips; uncle, Kyle Cantrell and wife, Betty, of the Pine Hill community; special aunt, Naomi Lance and husband, Charlie, of Huntsville, special cousin, David “Stoney” Stonecipher; father-in-law, Robert Murdock of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted November 2, at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with Rev. Leonard Turner officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Forest Cemetery.
