James Jarrett, 61, of Oneida, passed away December 8, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Jarrett; and one brother, Jeff Jarrett.
He retired from the City of Sarasota, Florida, Fire Department, after an exceptional career as a fireman and an EMT. He was a retired United States military veteran, having served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hammerhead as a torpedo man and Navy scuba diver, the United States Army Reserve Airborne, long range patrol unit, and finishing his military career with the U.S. Coast Guard in Tampa, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; two sons: Larry Jarrett and wife, Pam, of LaFollette, and Jeremy Jarrett of Oneida; seven grandchildren, his mother, Francis; two brothers, Robert and Douglas, both of Florida; long-time friends: David, Brenda, Daveena, and Carl Kidd; and many other relatives.
A celebration of life service is to be conducted January 9 after 11 a.m., with food being served, at Cove Lake State Park in Caryville.
Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida had charge of arrangements.
