Herbert Smith, 77, of Kentucky, passed away October 31, 2009, at his home.
Born in Oneida, August 2, 1932, he was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Anna Mae Carson Smith; and his wife, Vivian Slaven Smith.
He was a pipe fitter and was retired from Muncie Transmission Chevy Plant in Indiana. He served in the United States Navy and the Korean Conflict. His hobbies were toy wagon making and woodworking.
He is survived by his son, Steve Smith and wife, Barbara, of Palmetto, Fla.; one step-son, Robert Allan Thompson and wife, Dana, of Hazard, Ky.; three grandchildren, one step-grandchild, four great-grandchildren, close friends, Bob and Grace Randolph; and many other relatives.
Funeral service is to be conducted at 11 a.m., November 5, at Elmridge Funeral Home in Muncie, Indiana, with interment to follow at Elmridge Memorial Park Cemetery.
