Gertie Owens White, 76, of Knoxville, formerly of Oneida, passed away January 28, 2010, at St. Mary’s Residential Hospice Center in Knoxville.
Born December 8, 1933, she was preceded in death by her parents, Gideon S. and Mandy Carson Owens; her husband, Charles J. White; one brother, Dillard Phillips; sisters: Dessie Silcox, and infant, Rosa Lee Owens; and nephew, Orey Ernest Owens, Jr.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by one brother, O.E. Owens and wife, Helen, of Oneida; one sister, Dora Harris of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted January 31, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Don Kidd officiating. Music was provided by the Carson Family. Graveside service was conducted February 1, at Owens Cemetery.
Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville had charge of arrangements.
