Billy Don Cannon, 74, of Oneida, passed away January 20, 2010, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Scott County in Oneida.
Born in Maryville, December 31, 1935, he was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. and Ettie Dailey Cannon; his first wife and the mother of his children, Janice Foster Cannon; one son-in-law, Mark A. Coffey; and two sisters, Anna Sue Free and Almon Kate Cecil.
He was a member of Foster Crossroads Baptist Church; and a long-time business owner of South Fork Manufacturing. He was a long-time member of the Scott County Rescue Squad; served as the coroner for Scott County for many years; and was a metal craftsman. He loved woodworking and feeding his birds. He was a special papaw and a loving dad.
He is survived by his second wife, Hettie Johnson Cannon; two daughters: Terry Lynn Laxton and husband, Dwayne of Oneida, and Tonya Renee Coffey of Winfield; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, Jack Cannon and wife, Pam, of Oneida; one sister, Johnnie Bea Johnson; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted January 22, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida with Bro. Bobby Hill officiating. Interment followed at Foster Crossroads Cemetery.
