William H. (Bill) Hamilton, 80, of Clinton, formerly of Oneida, passed away January 10, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Belle Cecil and William M. Hamilton.
He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church; and owned and operated Cooper’s Hardware in Oneida for many years. In later years, he was manager of Rite-Aid, and worked at Potter’s Ace Hardward in Clinton until retirement. He was an active member of Oneida Lions Club, and a former Sunday School teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Phillips Hamilton of Clinton; his children: Jeanenne Stewart and husband, Roger, of Knoxville, Bill Hamilton, Jr. and wife, Violet, and Phillip Hamilton and wife, Billie Jean, all of Oneida, and Valerie LeMarr and husband, Mark, of Clinton; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.
The family was to have received friends Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 6 p.m. until time of funeral service at 8 p.m., at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. Don Long officiating. Graveside service is to be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 14, at Cooper Memorial Gardens in Oneida.
