Atris A. Carson, 58

Atris Ann Carson, 58, of Knoxville, passed away February 28, 2010, at her home.

Born in the Smokey Junction community, April 9, 1951, she was preceded in death by her father, Mertie Adkins; four brothers: Charles, Paul, Herbert, and Tommy Anderson; two sisters: Faye Byrd and Rose Muriel Marlow; nephew, Scott Anderson; father- and mother-in-law, Bailey and Orpha Carson; and sister- and brothers-in-law: Patricia Ballard, Walter Carson, Kenneth Carson, James Carson, Larry Suddath, and Morris Ballard.

She was a member of 3rd Creek Baptist Church; and retired from the State of Tennessee Probation and Parole after 34 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, Obal Lee Carson of Knoxville; two sons: Darrell and Richard Carson, both of Knoxville; her mother, Mertie Adkins of Huntsville; four sisters: Betty Anderson of Huntsville, Ella Mason of Chatsworth, Ga., Naomi Chambers and husband, Steve, of Pioneer, and Joan Suddath of Harriman; sisters- and brothers-in-law: Joyce and Dean Chambers of Pioneer, Sarah and Robert Lawson of Huntsville, Irene Carson of Clinton, William and Midge Carson of Dutch Valley, Marshall and Nancy Carson of the Ditney Trail community, and Odena Byrd of the Mill Branch community; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted March 2, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville with Bro. Dilbert Terry officiating. Music was provided by Nannie Mason. Graveside service was to have been conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, at Carson Family Cemetery in the Ditney Trail community.

Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville had charge of arrangements.
