Alma Ruth Byrd Lay, 68, of Pioneer, passed away January 15, 2010, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Scott County in Oneida.
Born in Pioneer, March 18, 1941, she was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Kenneth and Ella Mae Silcox Byrd; two sons, Keith Edward and Kenneth Ray Lay; and one brother, Delbert Byrd.
She was a member of Jakes Branch Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member. She loved crafts, her grandchildren, and being the best mom in the world.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Lay; two sons: Ronald Lay and wife, Tammy, of Berea, Ky., and Gary Lay and wife, Gwenda, of Michigan; five grandchildren, three brothers: Paul Byrd and wife, Betty, Clifton Byrd and wife, Barbara, and Milford Byrd and wife, Linda; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted January 18, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville with Bro. Virgil Cross and Bro. Jerry Chitwood officiating. Music was provided by Jakes Branch Baptist Church Choir. Interment followed at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville had charge of arrangements.
