MARYVILLE — The Maryville College womenís basketball team earned an at-large bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III National Tournament following their outstanding 23-4 campaign. The Scots will travel to Greencastle, Indiana were first-round host Depauw University will host MC as they challenge Otterbein (21-6) in a matchup on Friday, March 1st. DePauw (28-0) will host LaRoche (24-2) in the bracketís other game.

Maryville, who was ranked as high as No.22 nationally, earned the No.3 ranking within the NCAA regional rankings just behind USA South foes Christopher Newport University and Ferrum College. CNU received the leagueís automatic bid to the tournament while Ferrum, like MC, received one of the 21 at-large bids to complete the 64 team post-season field.

The Scots posted a 23-4 overall mark ranking third in the nation with a 38.8 three-point field goal percentage. MC was not only deadly from the perimeter, but ranked fourth nationally in overall team field-goal percentage connecting on over 46% of their shots from the floor. Their 73.1 points per game was the 22nd ranked offense nationally and their 15.7 assists per game ranked 33rd across Division III.

The post-season invitation is the 19th for the Scots womenís basketball program, a school record for any sport. Maryvilleís athletic department has now sent 63 teams to the NCAA National Tournament since joining the NCAA Division III in 1974.

Three players from Scott County are on the Lady Scotsí roster. Oneida High graduate Donja Robbins is a senior on the squad. Oneida grad Alex Bond is a sophomore and starts for Maryville. Scott High grad Shay Anderson is also a sophomore on the team.
