Darryl Lee Phillips, Sr., passed away January 31, 2013, in Maryville.
Born in Amherst, Ohio, November 25, 1965, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: L.C. and Bertha Coffey Phillips, and Lennie Perkins Blackwell; uncles: L.C., Jr., Austin, Hoyle (Bud), Ralph D. Kennedy, John McGuire, Morgan Rector, and Thomas E. Dexter; and aunts; Rochelle Yancey Phillips, and Barbara Blackwell Kuhn.
He was a born-again Christian, having joined the church at the age of 12; was a graduate of Scott High School, and a senior member of the 1984 Scott Highlanders District Championship football team. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being with family, and helping people.
He is survived by his wife, Cheri Metcalf Phillips of Maryville; son, Darryl Lee Phillips, II; daughter, Alexzandria Hayze Phillips; the mother of his children, Leah Byrd Phillips; father and mother, Denzil Lee and Sandra B. Phillips of Huntsville; brother, Denny Phillips of Nashville; sisters: Denise Lynn Keeton and husband, Mike, of Huntsville, and Danielle Strunk and husband, Kent of Oneida; uncles and aunts: Defoe and Sue Phillips, Berniece and Bert Jones, Ervin and Lila Phillips, Dana and Marilyn Phillips, Diana and David Newport, Cara and Jerry W. Thompson, Myrtle Jean Kennedy, Loretta McGuire, and Helen Jean Dexter; numerous cousins, and many other relatives.
Celebration of life was conducted February 2, at White Rock Baptist Church Fellowship hall. His wishes were cremation.
Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville had charge of arrangements.
